Although it is a plug-in hybrid model, the chassis flatness of this BYD Han DM-i is quite good and quite flat. However, because it is a straight engine, the exhaust pipe needs to pass under the engine, and the guard plate must be opened to avoid the exhaust pipe.

There is no extra resin spraying on the chassis. Although there are protective plates, the oil pipelines and some high-voltage lines are still exposed and not protected accordingly.

The battery is BYD’s own lithium iron phosphate battery. Like Han EV, the battery is heated or cooled by refrigerant. Although the packaging of the blade battery has optimized the space, the battery is still very large.

Like BYD’s other hybrid models, the fuel tanks all use metal fuel tanks. Now almost all passenger cars use resin fuel tanks, including Toyota Hybrid.

This car is a quasi-new car with a short mileage, and the chassis bolts and drive axle show signs of rust.

Front suspension


The front subframe, like Han EV, is full-frame structure and welded with steel plates. However, due to the heavy power system of DM-i, two reinforcing beams are welded at the front end of the subframe.

The front suspension is still a common McPherson structure, and the lower arm is a double-layer stamped steel plate, which is no different from Han EV.

Originally, the front suspension connecting plate of Han EV was made of cast iron, but this Han DM-i was upgraded to aluminum alloy.

Rear suspension

Rear suspension is a common integrated structure on Japanese cars in the past, which is relatively space-saving.

There are still three rear suspensions … a suspension that we dare not name, just like Han and Qin before.

Because the battery occupies too much space, the rear suspension can only be equipped with a more space-saving spring-barrel integrated shock-absorbing structure.

The chassis structure of this BYD Han DM-i is still similar to the previous Han EV, and there is not much improvement. It is more like the old Toyota Camry. I hope that BYD’s "Han" series can be a self-developed and commendable model. It doesn’t matter whether there is a qualitative leap or not. It doesn’t matter whether it can PK Tesla. At the very least, it must be stronger from generation to generation, so that we can see hope.
