Along with the development of new energy vehicles, there are also gradually popularized intelligent driving assistance systems, especially the emerging new forces for building cars. Test drive model: BYD Han DM-i 242KM flagship model

The test drive model is 2022 Han DM-i 242KM flagship model (guide price is 289,800 yuan), equipped with the latest DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system. Han himself has been evolving intellectually. From 3R1V to 5R1V, he has the ability of HWA high-speed driving assistance for the first time, and at the same time, he is constantly improving his intelligent experience through OTA upgrade. On the second anniversary OTA in August this year, the functions of HWA high-speed driving assistance, dTCS distributed traction control system, DiTrainer coaching mode and so on were introduced.

Today, Han has 5 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars and 5 millimeter-wave radars on the basic hardware, supporting ACC adaptive cruise, lane keeping, lane departure warning, lane change assistance, active braking, anti-collision warning and other functions, reaching the L2+ level of driving assistance capability, which is the "strongest" driving assistance system so far.

City scene: driving is comparable to "old driver"

The urban scene should be the most common and the most complicated road scene. In the case of normal straight driving, Han DM-i can identify the lane lines stably and accurately, even if the lane lines are blurred. If the vehicle enters the one-sided lane line from the two-sided lane line, it can also create a virtual lane line (solid line) to ensure stable driving in the center.

Turn on the LCC lane keeping function when following the car, and the driving condition of Han DM-i is relatively stable, and the frequency of correction is relatively low. It can also follow the two-wheeled motorcycle, but it is not accurate enough to identify the types of surrounding vehicles. In most cases, the two-wheeled motorcycle will be identified as a car, but it will not make you feel dangerous because of its good following ability.

When passing the traffic light intersection, Han DM-i can automatically start with the preceding car, and there will be a voice prompt: "The preceding car has started, please pay attention to the surrounding environment", which is more humanized and will not scare you suddenly. However, it is worth noting that if you wait for the traffic lights for too long, the vehicle will temporarily quit the LCC, and you need to take the initiative to step on the accelerator pedal to start. After re-entering the lane, the LCC function will be restored.

Under the congested road conditions, the performance of Han DM-i can be called an "old driver". Not only does it follow the car naturally, but the braking process of the vehicle is also very smooth. The following distance supports 4-level adjustment, and the shortest following distance is only 2.5 meters. It is not easy to be jammed by other vehicles under the condition of ensuring safety. It is definitely a great weapon to liberate your feet in traffic jams.

It is worth mentioning that the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system of Han DM-i is stable in both day and night, and the identification of road lane lines and surrounding vehicles is relatively in place, and there is little difference between actual use and daytime.

High-speed scene: cruise stability supports auxiliary lane change

After entering the high-speed, the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system of Han DM-i can be said to have played a greater role. It goes without saying that it is simple to go straight and follow the car. The closed high-speed scene is actually simpler than the urban scene. Han DM-i can always drive in the middle without any disturbance, which gives people a high sense of comfort and security. Moreover, the speed limit sign, navigation, cruising speed and other driving related information can be displayed through HUD, and the display effect is also very good.

After some natural bends, Han DM-i can always keep driving in the center, and the frequency of steering wheel correction is very low, which gives people no obvious perception and makes driving more natural. It is worth mentioning that Han DM-i can pass normally when passing through some corners with small curvature, such as ramps. The maximum passing speed is 60km/h, and the steering wheel automatically turns without manual operation. Of course, hands still need to be placed on the steering wheel to ensure driving safety.

However, when encountering a curved scene with equal curvature, such as a bridge, we should pay more attention to it, and the speed can pass stably below 40km/h. However, due to the large angle, bending center will have obvious steering correction, which is not natural enough. At this time, it is still recommended to take over manually. After all, assisted driving is not automatic driving.

At high speed, lane changing may be the most common scene. After updating to the latest DiPilot system, Han DM-i supports ILCA interactive lane changing auxiliary function, and can automatically change lanes by turning on the turn signal, but the speed needs to be above 60km/h; When changing lanes automatically, if you encounter a car coming from the rear, the car will obviously slow down. After the rear car passes, it will continue to execute the lane change instruction, which is still smart. The most important thing for intelligent driving assistance is to ensure safety.

It is worth mentioning that when encountering some situations that do not meet the lane change conditions, a red dynamic fan icon will be displayed behind the instrument screen. Turning on the turn signal will prompt "It is not suitable for lane change at present", and the lane line and lane change path on the corresponding side will also turn red to warn you that the lane cannot be changed at this time.

For many driver assistance systems at present, the ability to recognize objects that are stationary on the road is not too high. Han DM-i also does not support obstacle recognition in the lane, but it can recognize vehicles that are stationary in front when the speed is 60km/h, which also increases the safety of high-speed driving to some extent.

The success rate of automatic parking with novice sharp weapon is high

The function of automatic parking may not be useful for old drivers, but it is very friendly for some novices, especially with the blessing of intelligent driving assistance system. Now the success rate of automatic parking is very high.

Han DM-i can identify the parking spaces within the speed of 25km/h, and can identify the parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle at the same time. The maximum number of recognized parking spaces is 6, and the simulation picture has a good matching degree with the real scene picture, so users can clearly choose the parking spaces they want to park in.

In vertical parking, the vehicle can start parking after identifying the parking space, and there is basically no parking failure, and the success rate is still relatively high. It is worth mentioning that although the body length of Han DM-i is close to 5 meters, the requirements for space are not very high, and parking can be completed in a relatively narrow space, and the vehicle’s perception ability is relatively strong, but occasionally there will be a situation where the limit pier does not know anything else.

Parking in side parking spaces is difficult for many novice drivers. After recognizing the side parking spaces, Han DM-i can park at a speed of 1km/h, and the demand for space is also small. It is more reasonable than vertical parking in route planning, so the parking time is shorter, giving people a faster sense of speed and a high success rate of parking.

When parking automatically, the 360 panoramic image can clearly show the parking path, and the virtual image is also close to the actual image. When it is close to the obstacle, there will be a buzzer prompt, and the dynamic icon and distance will also be displayed in the parking image, which gives people a safer feeling.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the common automatic parking in vertical/lateral parking spaces, Han also supports oblique parking spaces and custom parking. However, in the oblique parking space test, Han DM-i can only identify the reverse fishbone parking space, and the left and right parking spaces can be automatically identified without human intervention, and the parking space that needs to be parked can be selected independently. The whole parking process is about 40s, and the speed is still relatively fast.

Custom parking has three kinds of parking spaces: vertical, horizontal and diagonal. After selection, the parking angle can be fine-tuned. The whole operation is completed in the central control panel, and the display is intuitive, with little learning difficulty.

DMS monitoring long-distance driving is more secure.

In addition, Han DM-i also supports DMS fatigue monitoring function. Through the DMS camera on the left A-pillar, you can identify faces and movements, fatigue driving (yawning) and inattention (looking behind the car, smoking, talking on the phone), which can be more accurately identified, and the voice and instrument display double prompts, greatly improving the safety of long-distance driving.

In order to avoid privacy leakage, this DMS camera also has a physical switch, which can shield the camera, and daily driving can be completely turned off, and then turned on when necessary to protect the privacy of users.

Although the development of intelligent driving assistance is a little late compared with the new force of building cars, Han has been constantly evolving. From the actual experience of the latest version of DiPilot system carried by Han DM-i, it can be said that it has made great progress compared with before. The intelligent navigation system not only has more perfect functions, but also has strong practicability in daily driving. In 2021, it established strategic partnerships with intelligent hardware suppliers such as Horizon and Juchuang, and also established a joint venture company with Momenta, a supplier of autonomous driving solutions. In March this year, we reached a cooperation with NVIDIA, a supplier of self-driving chips, and planned to adopt NVIDIA’s latest self-driving platform, DRIVE Hyperion, on some models in 2023, so as to achieve high-level self-driving capability.
